Take a journey outside of the city to one of São Vicente's extinct Volcanos! Volcano Viana, 14 kilometres southeast of the island capital Mindelo elevation 163 meters, located 3 kilometers south of Calhau. Discover the roots of our Jewish Heritage at Cabo Verde. From Porto Novo, you will drive through the new coastal road to Ponta d Sol, where you will explore this quaint fishing village with Jewish colonial homes, and learn more about this old port town where the Jewish settled. Visit the cemetery (Jewish Heritage site) observe one of the first cemeteries built in Ponta d Sol. Then drive to Penha de Franca, take a short walk, this small mountain top village, with its one of a kind view and rich Jewish history. Head on to Sinagoga, where the Jewish celebrated their festivals. Our last stop will be in the municipality of Paúl, where the Jewish also settled and thrived.
